Hearing aid evaluation and purchase is available at GMH through the audiology department. The latest in hearing aid technology, including digital programming, is available in many styles; Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC); In-The-Canal (ITC); In-The-Ear (ITE); and Behind-The-Ear (BTE).
A GMH licensed audiologist will determine the type and degree of hearing loss before recommending specific hearing aids. Patients are urged to have a medical exam by an otolaryngologist (ENT) but can sign a waiver if they choose not to do so.
Candidates for hearing aids will be given a written quotation. A 30 day trial period allows patients to work with the audiologist to fine tune the hearing aid to their listening needs. Hearing aid pricing is based on the size and technology of devices chosen. The actual sale of hearing aids is conducted by CareCo, a durable medical supplies company and GMH affiliate located across the street from the hospital.
