Text Box: Childbirth Education Classes Thank you for considering Childbirth Education through the Birthplace at GMH. Our classes are designed to assist you and your partner during this special time. Pregnancy 101 & 102 Classes These prenatal classes on the first and second trimesters present information about expectations during pregnancy, nutrition, exercise, your growing baby, and feeding choices. Fee $10.00 each class. Labor & Birth Preparation Classes This series of classes focuses on the phases of labor, delivery, and recovery, relaxation and breathing techniques, labor medications and hospital procedures. This series also includes the Breastfeeding and Baby Care Classes, (which may be taken separately) as well as a tour of the Birthplace at GMH. Fee $60.00 for six class series. Breastfeeding Class This class is designed to encourage and support mothers who have chosen or are considering breastfeeding. Fee $10.00. Baby Care Class This class consists of information on newborn safety, bathing, diapering, newborn growth and development and bonding. Fee $10.00. Big Brother/Big Sister Class This class for children ages 3 - 10 years old prepares them for their role as a Big Brother or Big Sister. Topics and activities include welcoming the new baby, Mommy’s hospital stay, the role of a big brother/sister, making a gift for the new baby, and a tour of the Birthplace at GMH. Children under 6 must be accompanied by a parent. Fee is $10.00. Infant/Child CPR & FirstAid Class This class teaches instruction on basic infant/child CPR skills, choking, injury and accident prevention, and basic first aid tips. No certification is given. Fee is $10.00 plus workbook fee. Baby’s First Massage Class This class provides instruction on massage techniques to improve bonding with your infant through nurturing touch. Both parents are encouraged to attend with their newborn. Fee is $10.00.
