Echocardiography
minusText Sizeplus
An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. An EKG translates the heart's electrical activity into line tracings on paper. The spikes and dips in the line tracings are called waves.Echo tests, or Echocardiography, is the most powerful tool that can be used to examine the heart.

The Echo test provides information regarding the size, structure and function of the heart.

Blood flow is also examined. The best part is that an echo test does not require surgery and is pain-free.

Common Reasons for having an echocardiogram:

  • Known or suspected Coronary Artery Disease
  • Resting EKG Abnormalities
  • Evaluation of Medical Therapy
  • Post MI Risk Stratification
  • Pre-op Evaluation for Non-Cardiac Surgery
  • Valvular Dysfunction
  • Evaluation of Dyspnea
  • Cardiomyopathies

The Echo Department is accredited by Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography
