Health Focus

Heart disease continues to be the number one killer of American adults, and more than half of the U.S. population has high or borderline-high total cholesterol, a leading cause of heart disease. However, a low total cholesterol level does not necessarily mean low risk, because low levels of HDL (which helps to carry bad cholesterol out of your blood) actually increase your risk of coronary heart disease.

GMH Health Focus is a community health and wellness program for all residents of Greene and surrounding counties. Residents benefit from GMH Health Focus by participating in its health screenings, health fairs, hospital tours, speakers and other community outreach programs.

Many of its health screenings are conducted from its 34-foot mobile unit that travels throughout the area and is a frequent sight at fairs, festivals and other special events.
